Gelli Play Day

I spent a morning with my gelli plate and some folded paper.  Fabulous fun.

I might make an art journal out of these, although they might make nice card backgrounds too.

Drawing Faces with Sharpies

I took an on-line mini-course with Alisa Burke recently called Portrait Play.  I took the course for inspiration rather than to learn anything, and every time I watch one of the videos I do get inspired to draw faces!  Here are the latest ones from my sketchbook.  I used a bold Sharpie to make the drawing, and then added a bit of watercolor.

This dude is pretty cool, don't you think?

A Little Bird Told Me

The songbirds were frolicking in the sunshine today, singing as they scattered snow from the heavily laden trees.  Birds always inspire me, and the colours in this are screaming spring, aren't they?

The Lid on My Scrap Box Can Finally Close!

That doesn't mean that I'll stop any time soon, though.  I'm enjoying making these mosaics so much that I made a few Artist Trading Cards for the Vancouver swap.  The colour theme is "fire".

And once I got bored with "fire" I did a few "water" ones.

Thanks for being here.  I hope that I inspire someone today.

Favorite Stamps

Stamps by Inkadinkado and Ma Vinci

I do love both of these stamps, although I haven't used either of them much.  So many stamps, so little time.....

Another use for a Repeat Triangle Stamp

Looking again through Julie Balzer's book,  Carve, Stamp, Play, I noticed that I could use the stamp I carved recently as a border too!  She is so smart.

Calligraphy Homework Bookmarks

Pointed Pen and Brush Lettering using Gouache

Our homework from the January Westcoast Calligraphy Society meeting is to use gouache to letter the name of our hometown.  After I take these to the next meeting, I might be able to give them away as bookmarks!

Silly Scraps Saturday

Mosaic bookmarks are a great way to use up scraps!  These ones were inspired by a lovely scrapbook paper that has watercolor-like blocks of color.  Here are the scraps I used:

Inspired by My Sister

My sister, Dianne, made some fabulous bookmarks recently, and her use of pattern stamps inspired these.  I've used a molding mat by Magenta, which I cut into small shapes to use as stamps.  Thanks, Dianne!
